Lion dance honours Grandmaster Chen

The Lion Dance team from Stafford Lau Gar were recently invited to perform in a prestigious show. The event, held in Telford on June 16th 2007, was part of a nationwide tour by Grandmaster Chen Zhenglei and featured other world-class proponents of Tai Chi and Shaolin Kung Fu.

Grandmaster Chen is the 11th generation direct-line successor of Chen style Tai Ji Quan. Also performing were Master LiMing Yue, Master Zhang DongWu, local Tai Ji instructor, Neil Grimley, Shaolin fighting monks Hengsheng and Hengwei and karateka from the Kyushinkai Martials Arts Centre. The lion dance team, which included guardians Alec Clark and Pete Hornby, opened the show in front of an appreciative audience, who were then treated to top-level demonstrations of Chen style Tai Chi and Kung Fu, including a demonstration of pushing hands, ‘Shaolin whip’ and ‘spear versus three sectioned staff’.
