By the end of the course students will have a greater understanding of emergency first aid and could use the practices should they encounter an incident in the class. As this course is now extended to 6 hours, then students will receive a certified First Aid certificate which will be valid for 3 years.

Content
First Aid training for Martial Arts Students covers: The role of the first aider, prioritising treatment, resuscitation (CPR), recovery position, seizures, choking, blood loss, shock, treatment of bleeding, broken or dislocated bones, Health & Safety Law, accident recording, strains & sprains.

Delivered by qualified First Aid Coach from the BKFA’s partner organisation, CTC Training & Development Limited.

Certification
A BKFA First Aid Certificate and a recognised First Aid certificate from a First Aid accredited organisation, valid for 3 years, will be issued on completion.
This course is registered with a First Aid approving organisation.
BKFA students must have completed the course before undertaking their Black Sash Grading. It is recommended that students seek to attend the course any time from Green to Brown sash.

Exemption
If a student has a recognised first aid qualification, then a student may be exempt from attendance and only needs to obtain a BKFA certificate signed by the instructor but it is the instructor’s responsibility to ensure that they have seen the certificate and that it has not exceeded the expiry date.

BKFA Instructors
This is an opportunity for BKFA Instructors to obtain a valid first aid certificate through an approved First Aid Training provider. This is the same as the Emergency First Aid at Work 6 hour National Standard Course.
